Clairvoyance

Statment of Intent

When you think of working in the video game industry, the first thing that comes to mind is 3D modeling or game developers. But what if you wanted to be a graphic designer in the video game industry? Yes, they do exist! It is not unheard of for a graphic designer to be working in a video game company or even when it comes to being involved in making a video game. They design branding for the video game or company, marketing for the games, typography, and UI/UX and more. Right now, there is not a clear educational pathway to get into the video game industry as a graphic designer or even on what steps to take after graduating with a graphic design and interactive media degree. You need to have things like a strong portfolio that showcases relevant skills to the industry and you have to know where to apply. Most all video game companies have a graphic design department.

Target Audience

The target audience is people who are in high school and college, ages 15-26 who have a passion for both video games and graphic design that want to make it into a career but don’t know where to start.

Brief

My goal is to help designers like me who have a passion for video games and this industry. My solution is to shine a light on the path to become a part of the video game industry by using infographics, creating and branding a video game company and creating collateral for a franchise level game to define the specific roles a graphic designer would have in it.
